Mariana Calhau de Figueiredo has a degree in Psychology from the University of Vila Velha (UVV) — Brazil. She is currently a PhD student in Educational Sciences at the University of Porto — Portugal, and she holds a scholarship as a research fellow for the Center for Research in Higher Education Policies (CIPES). She conducts research in the area of education, inclusion and inclusive practices and policies in higher education. She has participated in several research projects and has also worked as an associate professor of inclusive education in colleges in Brazil.
