Assistant Professor at ICBAS - Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar, in the scientific areas of Biostatistics and Epidemiology. PhD in Engineering from the University of Porto, 1998, in the area of optimization of mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP) problems. Since 1996 teaches units of Biostatistics and Epidemiology to undergraduate degrees in Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Aquatic Sciences and Bioengineering, and Master and Doctoral Programmes in Public Health, Epidemiology, Mental Health, Forensic Sciences, Mathematics, etc. Areas of research include Optimization, Epidemiology, Public Health and Education.
