Research interests: 
My current research focus on Higher Education Systems and its drivers of inequality. I study how universities can improve their selection of students. In the pipeline, I have other projects in the area of applied microeconomics, which expand the work on HE . My Research Interests are: Economics of Education, Applied Theory, Labour Economics, Microeconomics.
Biographical note: 
Pedro Luís Silva is a researcher at the Centre for Research in Higher Education Policies (CIPES), University of Porto, also an Invited Assistant Professor at the School of Economics (FEP) of the University of Porto, and a research affiliate with IZA Institute of Labour Economics. He received his Ph.D. in economics in 2021 at the University of Nottingham, UK, with the thesis entitled “Essays on the Economics of Higher Education”. He was a visiting student at the IAE-CSIC in Barcelona. Pedro’s research focuses on the economics of education, labour economics and applied microeconometrics, particularly education economics. His work has focused on different dimensions of higher education, such as high school grade inflation, college admission, diversification of the university entrance criteria, and student performance. He is also one of the Portuguese representatives at the European Network of Graduate Tracking. This group was created by the European Commission to support European Union Member States in implementing the Council Recommendation on tracking graduates.
